What is the Gospel? – Pastor Mike Stephens

Follow along and fill-in the blanks for greater understanding:

Mar.16:15, Joh.3:16, Joh.10:10, Rom.3:23, Rom.6:23, Rom.5:8, 1Pe.2:24, 1Co.15:1-5, Joh.1:12-13, Eph.2:8-9

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Simply put, the word “gospel” means “good news”. What is the good news? Salvation offered through Jesus Christ!

What is it that we are proclaiming to those who don’t know Jesus (and could probably use a reminder of ourselves?)

  1. God has a for our .

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 10:10 I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

  1. us from God.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23

  1. Jesus our .

Romans 6:23 …but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 Peter 2 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

  1. We Christ through .

1 Cor. 15: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you RECEIVED and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you BELIEVE in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.

John 1 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Ephesians 2 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Reflect:

Do you believe?
Have you received Christ in faith?
Who do you know that needs Jesus? A church family?
