Today’s Sermon

Parable of the Lost Sheep
By Pastor Mike Stephens

The nursery is available each Sunday for children under 3 years of age.

You’ve all heard the saying… “while the cats away, the mice will play”. Bearing that in mind, you might notice that the music is going to be a little different this morning. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Church Council meets tomorrow at 6:30 pm.

Pastors & Deacons meeting on Wednesday at 1 pm.

Our 2nd Business Meeting of the year will be this Thursday at 6:30 pm. Historically, these meetings have not been well attended. If you want to know what’s going on in the church, you need to be at these meetings. How will you feel if we change the carpet to pink pastel with purple flowers and you didn’t get to add your “YES” vote? Not good. 🙂

Seriously, we have cut these meetings from monthly to quarterly. One of the reasons was the hope that more people would show up. Please, prayerfully consider being at this one.

HEY TEENAGERS! If you are looking for a way to be the “HANDS & FEET of JESUS”, you could spend a few hours babysitting for Burmese Immigrant children, while their parents learn how to speak ENGLISH!! See Ann Linton, if interested!!

There are several prayer requests that have been on the list for months. If you have any updates or the request has been answered, please let us know. Thank you.

Bible trivia. There is no prize for guessing correctly, we just needed something to take up some space in the bulletin.
1: How many parables did Jesus speak? (same parable in different gospel counts as 2. Answers on bottom of sermon notes page).
2: Why did Jesus speak in parables? (The answer might surprise you)

Many others in and/or connected to someone in our church are in need of prayer. God knows who they are. Please help us out by giving us their prayer requests and updates, preferably written down or emailed, so we can keep the list up to date.

Please help us keep this list updated.
As members of the family of God, we are all interested in the needs and the praises of everyone.
Thank you!

Reminder: If you would like your prayer request or praise added to this list,
please make your request known to an usher, pastor Mike or Greg.

If you have something you would like added to the bulletin, please talk to Pastor Mike or Greg and give us as much information as possible. If you would like the item to run more than 1 week, please let us know.

Luke 15 1 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” 3 SO He spoke this parable to them, saying:

Matthew 18 10 “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was LOST. 12 “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? 13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

  1. people are to Jesus.

  1. The exists to people to .

1: 46 (don’t hold me to that, that’s what many sources claim)

2: See Mat.13:10&11 – 10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. (Jesus didn’t teach in parables to make His lessons easier to understand but more difficult)
